Hi, I’m Sarah and I love making handmade items. I love the intersection of materials and inspiration that happens when one is multi-passionate; so many of my favorite pieces would never have happened if I wasn’t borrowing a tool from one practice to another or borrowing ideas and textures to make new things. Right now, I’m obsessed with bookbinding and gelli printing, and specifically making hand-bound journals with botanical prints using plants I foraged from my garden and from my yard.
My favorite ways to bind books lately are Coptic and Simple Pamphlet Stitching. My favorite plants to gelli print are goldenrod, mullein, and sumac, but I love experimenting and (endlessly) trying new plants, new colors and combinations.
I live on a small homestead with my husband, our silly cat, a few chickens, and a big garden. I love Western Maine: I was born and raised here, and I love being inspired by the seasons and plants and way of our rural living in beautiful New England.
My sincere hope is that my handmade work inspires others to start or continue creating their own work: by journaling, sketching, or collaging in hand-bound journals, and having slow mornings with a warm beverage and fun new notebook.
